Whaaaaaaatttttttt! How can it be December already?!
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday, we will blink and it will be Christmas!
Our Pirate Pantry fed more than 65 families this season. The Pirate Pantry is stocked and ready so if you need anything in the days ahead, check it out! It is located on the Middle School campus.
The last day for this semester will be the 22nd, which is also an early out. Christmas break will be the 23rd through the 4th. Students will return on January 5th, 2022!! Teachers will return on January 4th, 2022 to prepare for the second semester.
Basketball is in full swing, so be sure and check out these games and all other school events on our District Calendar, located on our website.
Please continue to monitor student health and encourage them to practice good hygiene; as COVID, the flu and other viruses linger. You can continue to monitor the status of cases on our COVID Dashboard. IMPORTANT: If you or your child have been exposed to someone with COVID or have any symptoms at all, please call our COVID point of contact, at 479-225-6341.
Be watching, as we soon will be seeking input regarding the school calendar for next year, we will be sending a survey to staff, students and parents and appreciate in advance your feedback.
Recently our District was awarded additional funds for the Literacy and Math curriculum, as well as homeless funding support from the Department of Education. We additionally, continue to utilize our ESSER funds to support learning loss and staff support.
Our Board of Education recently approved the creation of a school district police department to provide 100% security for the students and the campus. The Commission on Law Enforcement approved the request in November and so we will be transitioning to full safety and security coverage, under the Direction of Officer Tyler Underwood after the first of the year.
As the seasons change and we move into Winter, please remember that any potential school closings will be posted via social media (Facebook and Twitter) and through our school notifications as part of our app. If you don’t have the Greenland School District app or subscribe to our notifications you need to today!
